Why Chasing Trends Will Kill Your Business (i.e. ClawedBot, MoltBot, OpenClaw)
Be careful going down the rabbit hole 🕳️🐇
Every week and now every day it seems like a new “hot opportunity” pops up with AI.
But here’s the hard truth: trend-chasing almost always ends in failure.
I feel like I would be doing you a disservice without addressing the elephant in the room.
Or should I say the lobster in the tank. 🦞
The creation of ClawedBot > OpenClaw and more questionable platforms like MoltBook and MoltRoad.

DO NOT go down the rabbit hole 🕳️🐇
The Problem With Trends
Short lifespan
By the time you see it, the wave is already peaking.Fierce competition
Everyone rushes in, margins collapse.Shallow moats
Trendy businesses are easy to copy and easy to abandon.Burnout
Constantly pivoting keeps you stuck in survival mode instead of building long-term assets.
The Alternative: Timeless Value
Instead of asking “What’s hot?”, ask:
What problem never goes away?
What need grows over time?
What can I automate or systemize?
Examples:
People will always need customers.
Businesses will always want efficiency.
Humans will always pay for health, wealth, relationships.
How to Stay Grounded
Spot principles, not fads. What underlying behavior makes this “trend” work?
Double down on evergreen channels. Data, email, customer relationships.
Build compounding assets. Templates, SaaS, directories, courses, newsletters.
The Bottom Line
Chasing trends feels exciting, but it keeps you broke and tired.
The founders who win big aren’t trend surfers.
They’re asset builders.
They invest time into systems that grow stronger and compound with growth.
