🔥 Maker Interview
Hello Domenico, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm Domenico from Italy. I'm working as a Business Analyst for a fintech company and my background is in Economics. In my free time I'm a micro-entrepreneur focused on micro-saas. I have always been passionate about startups and tech, and I entered the no-code world 3 years ago.
Tell us about your product that you made?
I work every day with Excel. I wanted something that could help me do this job better. So together with my friend Tanveer, I started working on an idea. The aim of Onetap was to translate text input into Excel formulas using AI.
Which No-Code tools did you use?
We used Bubble and we had OpenAI APIs linked to the platform. The first version was developed in hours and the first real product in less than 1 week. We immediately had some users, so it was very simple to listen to our users and adapt the product according to the users' needs.
How have you attracted users and grown your product?
We launched the first beta using our Twitter accounts. If you build a good community on Twitter, you'll have always a good starting point for every kind of product.
Our goal was to focus on organic growth and not on paid marketing. So we started promoting the product on platforms like Reddit and Kernal for validation. And Indie Hackers, LinkedIn, Facebook Groups, No-Code communities, Betalist for promotion. From there it was picked up and it resulted in some word of mouth. Enough for us to have some first users and customers to validate the idea and improve the product.
Can you tell us more about the acquisition?
From the beginning our aim was to build something from scratch, grow it, and sell it as soon as possible. We decided to list on Acquire.com and the complete process from listing to final sale took 2 months. I can only reveal that it was the selling price was mid 5 figures. One Tap was bought by someone who is really passionate about AI and Excel and wanted to take it further.
Can you share some numbers/stats?
Built and grew the product in 2 months
$6,000 of revenue
More than 2,000 monthly visitors to our website
The most significant expense we had was our Bubble plan, at $39 per month.
What's your advice for No-Code Makers who are just starting out?
My advice is to validate your product before the real launch. With No-Code it is so easy to do that without any costs.
When you are selling I advice to:
Be honest to your sellers about the strengths and weaknesses of your product.
Try to see the product from different perspectives, not only from the economic one but also how it can add value to the final user.
Focus on getting some revenue before selling
Where can we go to learn more about you and your project?
Thanks Domenico, you are an Exit legend!
