🔥 Maker Interview
Hello Keith, tell us a little bit about yourself
Hey there, I'm Keith and for the past near-decade, I've been creating apps as a hobby and side-business. I'm passionate about creating solutions that can help people and businesses make the most of their time and optimise their processes.
I've built a bunch of apps using reactive native, but the past two years I got interested in No-Code and AI. The No-Code journey all started when I saw a post about Adalo on a forum two years ago and I've been hooked ever since.
I really liked the speed of deployment and it was great to test my app concept. Overall the team from Adalo is very responsive and has built a great product.
Tell us about your product that you made?
I have been fascinated by the potential of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionise everyday tasks both in business and life.
After assessing Open AI, I had an epiphany that small business owners and individuals need help to generate content for their businesses. For instance, I have multiple apps and it takes a great deal of effort to create content for social media, email marketing, and to enhance SEO rankings by adding content to each website.
This led me to research content creation and I noticed that there were a lot of big players like Jasper & Copy AI, but hardly any apps that provide ready-made templates to make content creation a breeze for the user. That's how EZAi was born!
What went into building the initial product?
To validate the product, I asked friends (who are small business owners) for their feedback and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I have been persistent and patient throughout this journey, integrating the APIs into the Adalo platform and making sure that the product works perfectly.
After spending almost a year working on the project, I now have active and paid users and recently brought my brother onboard to help with marketing and sales.
What's your business model and how have you grown your revenue?
We offer a free trial on our App with 5,000 EZAi tokens when you sign up and this enables the user to create content with any of our 50+ templates. After the trial, we offer a flexible pay-as-you-go top-up system to purchase more credits to continue to create content. We believe this method gives users the trust that they'll only be paying for what they use. We already have seen a good conversion rate of users buying EZAi tokens in our first month!
How have you attracted users and grown your product?
We have been focussing on getting a good App Store ranking:
Including important keywords
Getting reviews
Improving descriptions
Currently, we are ranking top 3 for some important keywords. Next to that we also have been experimenting with paid ads on various platforms.
What are the biggest challenges you've faced and how did you overcome them?
Creating great output for our users is our number one goal. I’m constantly tweaking the prompts on Open AI and making our app as user-friendly as possible. We are constantly looking for user feedback and using the analytics to help us improve the app.
Can you share some numbers/stats?
After the launch (Start of Jan) we have grown to almost 2k users with almost 10% of these users now buying EZAi tokens.
We passed 4,000 registered users
We passed our first 100 paying customers
What's your advice for No-Code Makers who are just starting out?
Take your time, learn how the platform works, spend time on the forums and try to create a first working prototype.
Where can we go to learn more about you and your project?
