Softr is my favorite No-Code builder that turns your Airtable data into beautiful and powerful web app, client portal or internal tool. Pick a template or start from scratch.
Hello,
Welcome new 132 subscribers 👯♀️. How is your week going? Some updates from my projects.
👀 Katt's Week
Our No-Code Family Challenge is progressing well. We made 6 first examples for our presale page and we will test the page with some first users this week before soft launching it. We were also selected for a coaching session by legend KP and got some golden advice.
I have been building a website for my info product Good Problems. I started with Carrd (No-Code website builder) but returned after a while to Softr. I'm just a very big fan of the building blocks in Softr. It's so easy to create a template customized to your wishes.
I crossed 2000$ of earnings on Gumroad this week. With Gumroad, Substack and some No-Code tools anyone can do this 🔥. Reply if you want to learn more about this.
The interview this week is with Bryn. An inspiring story about an ecommerce business which he was able to build, scale (and successfully sell) thanks to No-Code. Enjoy the interview👇
📣 Shoutouts
Early Acquire is an acquisition platform that helps you to sell or discover early stage side projects.
Idea Economy is a newsletter I enjoy every week (yes, I read a lot of newsletters 🤓). It's full of quality articles about building an online business.
How I manage to actually read all the newsletters I'm subscribed to? Thanks to Mailbrew. One app that groups them all. And it keeps my mailbox clean too.
🔥 Maker Interview
Hello Bryn, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m 24 years and live in London. I got started with No-Code through necessity. I needed to automate my business to implement new processes and save time.
Which product did you build?
We build an ecommerce business. We sold custom sliders and socks to teams and businesses. Our customers included Red Bull, Google and Harlequins.
The idea was my brothers, Tom, who I ran the business with. Sports clubs all have matching kit but random messy footwear. We set out to change that. And did so successfully!
Which No-Code tools did you use?
Squarespace for the website.
Typeform to design and place your order.
Zapier to link everything up.
Our business model was very complex, not the standard Ecommerce store. Every order was personalized, and our minimum order was 10 units. This added a lot of complexity, so Zapier was a savior to link everything up.
How did you launch and grow your product?
We started almost exactly 4 years ago. At the start we knew nothing (still don’t!), we started with friends who we knew at sports clubs and expanded through the universities, as I was still at uni. We discovered Facebook ads and never looked back. Because of the complexity, we couldn’t scale aggressively, which is where Zapier came in.
Can you share some stats from the time you listed it for sale?
We sold over 30,000 pairs of sliders over 4 years with revenue of nearly half a million. I can’t go into numbers in that much detail.
Why and how did you sell it?
We sold it for mainly personal reasons. The business was still profitable despite the current market conditions. We both needed change and to work on new projects. It felt like the time to move away and take a break.
It was a 5 figure exit. It was in a matter of months from first listing on Microacquire but eventually sold it through a cold email I received. How random and lucky.
Why did the buyer want to acquire your project?
The buyer wanted to acquire the brand and scale it more. I believe their plans are to sell in other geographies before trying to sell the business again.
What kind of advice would you like to share with someone who wants to get started with No-Code?
Just get started. You’ll be amazed about what you can do with No-Code. You don’t know what you don’t know, so dive in head first and find out!
What kind of advice would you like to share with someone who wants to sell their No-Code project?
MicroAquire was the best platform from my experience. There are a lot of serious buyers and the platform itself is very easy to use with great support.
